Professional Philosophy
Centering ethical information and library practices in education is critical.
ANTIRACISM
Antiracism is foundational for social justice and racial justice and must be prioritized. Remain vigilant and monitor for racism at individual, institutional, and structural levels. Get input from and involve people of color in a meaningful way. Counteract and redress harm.
EDUCATIONAL EQUITY
There is not a level playing field for our students. As educators we must identify the needs of our students in order that they have access to services and supports when they need them so they all may succeed. We focus on equitable access over equal access.
STUDENTS FIRST
Design the education experience around the student and their needs. Connect them with resources and services when they need them, giving them options for agency & engagement.
INTROSPECTION & INTERROGATION
Critical introspection lends intentionality when reflecting on personal or professional practice or when examining the systems and structures upheld through daily work.
